What can I expect from
my first visit to the practice?

 Your
first appointment will take about 30 minutes depending on
how complex your problem is. We will take a thorough history
of your problem and details such as what makes your problem
better/worse. We will then examine the problem area and any
other related areas to enable us to identify the cause of
your problem. At all times we maintain your modesty. It may
be advisable to bring shorts/vest t-shirt with you if you
wish.
Following this detailed, thorough assessment we will hopefully
be able to tell you about your problem, what we can do to
help, the techniques that may be used and also what you can
do to help yourself.
We encourage all our patients to ask questions about what
we are doing during the sessions, after all it is your body
and it is important that you know what is going on

How many treatments will
I need?
|
Following your first appointment the Physiotherapist will
discuss the anticipated number of treatments. You will be reassessed
on each visit and if no improvement is seen then your treatment
will be changed accordingly after discussion with yourself.
If physiotherapy does not help your problem we will refer you
back to your GP or a specialist.

Do you have a waiting list?
|
No. We can normally see you within 24 working hours. We
can often offer same-day appointments.
|
Do I have to be referred by a doctor?
|
No, anyone can refer themselves for treatment. However,
if you wish to use your medical insurance to claim for treatment
costs, some policies require your GP to authorise this.

What should I wear?
|
 We
would advise comfortable loose fitting clothes. The physiotherapist
will need to see the affected body part, for the lower limbs
bring shorts, for back problems the therapist may require
you to remove your top.

How do I pay?
|
Payment is made after each consultation either by cheque
or cash. If you are claiming through medical insurance we
can send the invoices direct to the insurance company. Your
insurance details are required on your first visit.

Can I use my medical insurance?
|
Gatley Physiotherapy Clinic is recognised by most of the
major insurance companies, as we are all Chartered Physiotherapists
and registered with the Health Professionals Council. You
will need to check with your insurance company prior to treatment,
as some companies require a referral from a Doctor beforehand.
