Fiona
Wilson is a podiatrist, practising in Manchester, UK,
with more than 10 years experience in the manufacture
and fitting of orthotics (custom shoe inserts or insoles).
Many problems may be treated this way, including pain
in the following - Toe, Ball of the Foot, Arch, Heel,
Ankle, Shin, Knee, Hips and Back.
What are orthotics?
Orthotics are shoe inserts which are individually designed
to balance your body, alter the way you walk and make
your joints work more efficiently. When your body is
out of balance, many joints can't work in the best way
and this leads to pain.
Janet qualified as a Reflexologist in August 1995,
from the Sirius School of Reflexology, a School accredited
by the Association of Reflexologists. Further advanced
assessments and training , completed in June 99, has
placed me on the Register of Advanced Reflexologists.
Reflexology is a gentle and relaxing complementary therapy,
suitable for all ages, which uses reflex points found
on the feet, hands or ears, to stimulate the body's
natural ability to heal itself. This restores energy
and a state of homeostasis.
Drawings found on the walls of tombs in Egypt dating
from 2300BC, indicate that a form of Reflexology was
practiced by its people.Development into the therapy
as we know it today took place mainly in the early 1900's
in the USA, those responsible being Dr William Fitzgerald,
an ear nose and throat Specialist and Eunice Ingham,
a Physiotherapist.
The body is divided into zones that run from the head
to the feet. This has enabled a map to be created whereby
every part of the body has a corresponding 'reflex'
point on the feet, hands or ears.
It is believed that congestion along these zones will
eventually manifest in illness or disease.By stimulating
the 'reflex' points relating to all parts of the body,
a reflexologist can stimulate the release of congestion,
allowing the body's natural healing process to begin.
